About Us

Fresh Fields Foods was first opened on Wharf Street in Sowerby Bridge in 2003 by husband and wife team Peter and Pip Dewick. They had previously run a butchers franchise in supermarkets with forty sites across the UK.

Peter originally started with a small shop on Tuel Lane, not far from where we are based now, so starting Fresh Fields was a homecoming of sorts. The business started as a small, family shop selling meat, veg, homemade pies and roast chickens, though it quickly developed into the wholesale operation that it is today. We had to move our veg operation to a full size warehouse and make the shop smaller to give the butchers more space. A fully European licenced cutting plant and the holder of a Red Tractor Assurance licence, Fresh Fields has gone from strength to strength!

Now, Fresh Fields supplies restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, cafes, golf clubs and many other hospitality premises across the Yorkshire and Lancashire regions. In March 2020, things changed for the whole world when coronavirus hit, supermarket shelves were empty and our customers closed. We created this site and a home delivery service to get food to people across Calderdale, this has continued and is almost a throwback to the days of 2003 when we first opened.

A huge thank you to all the customers, whether they be wholesale or personal, who have supported us over these many years and to the many staff who have formed a part of our teams past and present.
